Recap on Baby Katie

We decided to start a blog to share news about our family and post updates about our newest little blessing, Baby Katie, who we are expecting sometime in April. We thought it might be helpful to have a blog we could keep up and just direct friends and family here to read the updates, rather than sending the updates directly out to their e-mail boxes.
We were also planning on using this Blog as a place for us to share The Lord's daily blessings in our lives and to just write about all kinds of various things. :)

Today, I thought I would recap what we have been dealing with this pregnancy with our sweet, little one. We found out last August that we were expecting another little one. :) We were all so excited! We had experienced a miscarriage a year earlier and were thrilled to be expecting again. All of the girls were so excited! As time went by in this pregnancy, I began to notice that I wasn't getting as large as I normally do. (I tend to get as big around as I am tall. LOL! :) ) I had been on a Gluten-Free diet this time, so I just kind of attributed it to that. By the time we went in for our routine ultrasound at 19 weeks, we were immediately sent to a Perinatologist and another ultrasound. The only thing they told us was that they thought our baby may have a Fetal Infection. The Perinatologist office was across the parking lot, so we went over there and waited for what seemed to be an eternity. I sat there and balled, not knowing what to expect. We finally got in to see the Doctor and she had said that it looked as if our baby had one of many possible Fetal Infections. They had recommended an Amnio to diagnose what type of infection she had. They had said that a couple of them had treatment options, but it was still an extremely serious issue. It makes me sick to even bring this up, but they at that time actually gave us the option of ending the Pregnancy! :( We said that there was NO WAY we would ever consider that and we decided to seek another opinion. We went in to OHSU and saw a couple of specialists over there who had told us of some other possibilities, but they basically agreed with the Perinatologist, so we prayerfully decided to go with the Amnio. Once we had that test done, we agonizingly waited for results, which took a little longer than normal, due to it being Thanksgiving week. We had put out prayer requests to all of our family and friends and they passed on the requests. We had so many wonderful people praying for our little one. We felt so blessed that there were so many praying for our little one. We could truly feel the love of the Lord through each person who contacted us to let us know they were thinking of us and praying for our little one. The results finally came in and we were so happy!!! :) It showed NO INFECTION!!! :) They also said that there were no chromosomal abnormalities that they tested for in the Amnio. :)

We have continued to be followed by the Perinatologist because she is still "Highly concerned" that our baby is so tiny. We had many ultrasounds and with each one, she has continued to grow, but not a lot, so she wants to keep her eye on her. We are now doing a series of Biophysical Profile Ultrasounds. We had one last Monday and we were excited to see that she got an 8 out of 8 possible points! :) We are praying that she will receive the same score next Monday. On the 27th, we go back in to for a full weight assessment ultrasound to see if our little one is growing. She has been following the 17th and 18th percentile, so we pray that she will be above that next time. We are now at 30 Weeks and are so excited to welcome this newest blessing into our family soon! :)

We have decided to name her Katherine Grace, which means "pure grace." We feel that it is very fitting for her because the Lord has given us pure grace by blessing us with another little one. We will call her "Katie." :)
